Whisper Night ("we", "our", "us") is a children's storytelling application. We are committed to protecting the privacy of children and families who use our app.

COPPA Compliance

Whisper Night is designed to comply with the Children's Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA). We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

Information We Collect

• Parent account: Email address and display name (provided during registration)
• Child profiles: First name and birth year only — no other personal information
• Voice recordings: Audio samples provided voluntarily by parents/guardians for voice cloning
• Usage data: Anonymous story playback history, stored locally on device only

How We Use Information

• Email: Account authentication and important account notifications only
• Voice recordings: Processed by ElevenLabs (our voice synthesis provider) solely to generate narration audio. Voice samples are encrypted in transit and at rest.
• Child names: Used only within AI-generated stories to personalize the narrative

We do NOT use any data for advertising purposes.

Third-Party Services

• Supabase (database and authentication) — supabase.com/privacy
• ElevenLabs (voice synthesis) — elevenlabs.io/privacy
• OpenRouter/DeepSeek (story generation) — no personal data is sent; only story prompts containing the child's first name

Data We Do NOT Collect

• We do NOT collect location data
• We do NOT use advertising trackers
• We do NOT share personal data with third parties for marketing
• We do NOT collect device identifiers for tracking purposes
• We do NOT use analytics that track individual children

Data Storage and Security

• Account data is stored on Supabase servers (encrypted at rest)
• Voice samples are transmitted over HTTPS and stored encrypted
• Generated audio is cached locally on the device
• No child data is ever sold or shared with third parties

Parental Controls

• Only verified parents/guardians (18+) can create accounts
• Parental verification is required to access account settings
• Parents can delete their account and all associated data at any time
